On Saturday, March 15th we are going to host the a Beer

Categorization Event from Noon to 3 PM in the Communications

Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This is an informal

event open to all Indiana brewers at no charge. We will set up

teams of judges that will sit down with a brewer, taste the beer

BJCP competition July 19, judge invitation

Subject: Athens OH -- BJCP competition July 19, judge invitation

 Dear Beer Judges:
 May 4, 2008

You can be part of the excitement of the inaugural AHA-BJCP certified Ohio  Brew Week Homebrew Competition taking place Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Athens,  Ohio.
 Ohio Brew Week,
July 14-19, 2008, is the world's only week-long festival celebrating Ohio's diverse microbrews.  Visitors hear from national beer experts, sample beer-flavored foods, see homebrew and microbrew cooking demonstrations, meet Ohio's brewers and sample more than 75 of Ohio's best microbrews.  One of the new additions to Ohio Brew Week is the AHA-BJCP sanctioned homebrew competition.

Ohio Brew Week is planning for a first-rate homebrew competition which is why I am writing you.  We seek BJCP judges, professional brewers, other experienced judges (even if not BJCP ranked), and some novice (first time) judges as well, who will help us put on a quality competition and lay a foundation to grow the Ohio Brew Week Homebrew Competition.

Our event will be held Saturday, July 19 at the historic
Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center in Athens, which is 75 miles southeast of Columbus.  Judges will sample the entries, we'll provide lunch, and then we'll have an awards ceremony. The best part of the Ohio Brew Week Homebrew Competition is that the other interesting microbrew events occurring that week are set up to appeal to microbrew lovers.

A special event is being set up with homebrewers in mind:
Friday, July 18, take a ride on the historic
Hocking Valley Scenic Railway. Once the wheels are rolling, homebrewers can share samples of their creations with other homebrewers.  The Brew Choo Choo, or Homebrew Choo Choo, will roll through the beautiful hilly countryside outside Athens, and return to the station in time to catch the many microbrew events in Athens: formal brew tastings, great music, fabulous beer-flavored food at all the participating restaurants.  Visit: www.ohiobrewweek.com for a complete list of the week's events.

Please consider taking part in our Ohio Brew Week Homebrew competition this
year.  If you are available and interested please visit the website and go to the Homebrew Competition link.  Judge and steward registration will likely close in early June sometime, so we hope you won't delay.  We have a small number of free hotel rooms for BJCP ranked judges who are willing to share (double occupancy) with another judge.  Send me email as soon as possible if you are interested in this.

Area hotels are offering special packages for visitors during Ohio Brew Week,
and the Athens County Convention and Visitor Bureau is working with Ohio Brew
Week to help travelers create a fun trip for the whole family.  Visit their website: www.athensohio.com for a listing of all the great activities and places to visit in the
Athens area.

If you have any questions regarding our competition, please feel free to contact
me by phone or email, or contact our judge director Linda Swihart, LindaS@warrenpiece.org

We appreciate your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.

 Sincerely,
 Jason Klein, kleinjc40@hotmail.com, (765) 404-7446
